Los Cabos offers some of the most beautiful beaches in all of Baja, with warm stretches of sand perfect for strolling, sunbathing and beachcombing. A few beaches are excellent for swimming, snorkeling and kayaking. The beaches on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas and in a few places along the Corridor tend to have very rough waters and strong rip tides and are not so safe for swimming, but the views are spectacular! A number of beaches are also excellent spots for surfing. Here are a few of our favorite beaches in Los Cabos. 

Cabo San Lucas

Médano Beach

This is truly the heart of Cabo San Lucas, lined with cantinas and ideal for people watching. The beautiful and bustling stretch of beachfront is also Cabo's safest spot for swimming. The many resorts situated along Médano Beach offer wonderful views of Cabo San Lucas Bay and the majestic rock formations of Land's End. On the beach, you'll find families, beach vendors and sun seekers all enjoying the warm sand and great weather. This is also the place to hop on a jet ski or go parasailing. Médano Beach is accessible from the beachfront resorts or via water taxi from the marina.

Lover's Beach

Close to the famous stone arch (El Arco) in Cabo, photogenic Lover's Beach is accessible by water taxi and is great for an afternoon. Swimming and snorkeling can be good on the bay side depending upon water conditions. Neighboring Divorce Beach faces the Pacific Ocean and is not recommended for swimming due to dangerous surf conditions. When visiting Lover's Beach, bring what you'll need for the day as there are no services. Lover's Beach is accessible via water taxi from the marina; be sure to arrange your return pickup time.

The Corridor

Chileno Bay

One of the area's most picturesque beaches is found at Chileno Bay. This is also an excellent sport for swimming and morning snorkeling. The beach offers some very basic facilities, including shady palapas and basic restrooms. There are also a few vendors offering kayak, snorkel and dive equipment. Divers will love viewing the tropical fish at Chileno Reef located about half a mile from shore. Tours for snorkeling and diving depart from the Cabo San Lucas marina. Contact our team to make reservations. Chileno Bay can be reached near kilometer 14.5 on the Transpeninsular Highway.

Santa Maria Bay

A favorite for families and snorkel cruises, pretty Santa Maria is a protected horseshoe-shaped bay surrounded by rocky cliffs. Bring what you'll need for the day, as there are no facilities. Many tour boats depart from the Cabo San Lucas marina on a daily basis bringing visitors to enjoy the snorkeling in protected waters. To access Santa María, look for the sign near kilometer 13 on the Transpeninsular Highway and follow the dirt road to the parking area.

Palmilla

If you are looking for a gorgeous, quiet cove to enjoy both swimming and water sports without a lot of crowds, visit Playa Palmilla. This beach is at Punta Palmilla near the luxurious One&Only Pamilla Resort. Exit near kilometer 27 on the Transpeninsular Highway, and follow the signs to the main beach area.

San José del Cabo & Beyond

Costa Azul

A few of the area's most popular surfing breaks are located at Costa Azul. Here, you'll find the world-famous Zipper's (along with a restaurant of the same name) and La Roca breaks. Surfing at Zippers is recommended for experienced surfers. Even if you don't surf, you can relax beachside and enjoy the views. Surf competitions take place here each year. To access, enter through the arroyo near the Costa Azul bridge at kilometer 28 on the on the Transpeninsular Highway.

Hotel Beach

The breathtaking beaches of San José del Cabo are perfect for long strolls, sun bathing and beachcombing but are not advisable for swimming. A few spots are great for surfing. Along the northeastern edge of Hotel Beach, you'll find the lush natural estuary full of palm trees - a haven for bird life. Access via the hotels located along Paseo Malecon in San José del Cabo.

Located alongside the traditional fishing village of La Playita, the new Puerto Los Cabos community boasts a world-class marina and luxury accommodations. You'll also find a lovely beach here with magnificent views of the Sea of Cortez. Swimming can be good depending upon seasonal conditions. This is a great spot to watch the local fishermen head out in their panga boats. Follow the signs from San José del Cabo to Puerto Los Cabos.

The East Cape

If you're up for a day trip, the tranquil beaches of the East Cape offer a laid-back taste of old Baja. One of the area's jewels is Cabo Pulmo, a natural marine sanctuary boasting one of North America's only living coral reef systems. This is an outstanding place to snorkel, kayak or dive in the Sea of Cortez to witness up close the vibrant local sea life.
